Artist's Comments

People who worked on this: Sam {model standing up}, Skrad aka bradley atwell {model sitting down}, Andrew Weaver, Russel (rusty)Field, and both Sam & Skrad are also the blurred figures walking past. Also credit obviously goes to Kerm {aka Mathew Hall} and Rusty for coming up with the idea for this in the first place

Maaan this took a lot of work. Ok so this was actually done for Rusty's media project. Him and kerm had come up with the idea, and Rusty asked me to shoot it, so we got together who we could and wandered out to find a brick wall to lean against. The concept was that it's for Rusty's magazine thing he's doing for his project, about our music scene, so the alternative folk (originally just sam, but it looked better with skrad in there too) would be at the back, looking cool fo sho, and there'd just be like a crowd, kinda blurred figures in front of them. Basically they just had to stand out a lot. Anyways, we started shooting. Skrad & I (being the photography folk) figured we'd use a polarising filter, with a reasonably large apeture (to make the figures more blurred and out of focus) and a long exposure so we could walk past the scenester at the back and get the effect. We were happy when it was a nice sunny day. Then realised that any exposure over like a 13th of a second or something was terribly overexposed. We'd wanted to have like a 5 second exposure, which would have been great, but it was just completly overexposed, just a totally white photo. Eventually, after some messing on and general test shots and the like, I decided to take the photos of sam and skrad by themselves, then get shots of us walking past (13th of a second is more than long enough to blur people walking at a decent speed) so we got to work. And it went well, lol, we got some cool shots. So yeah. Rusty & I headed back to work on it. And my god lol it took about. an hour and a half/two hours. By the end, i had something ridiculous like 30 layers. It involved a lot of selecting, adjustment layers, channel mixing, layer blending tweaking, desaturating, blurring, and so on and so forth. And thus, the result before you. It isn't perfect. But for my first true photomanipulation, i'm really happy with it :D So uhm be nice please :) Apologies for the overly long description ^^;
